Fortuna S

“Fortuna S” ran aground and sank in the Sulina seaway, In the morning of Ocober 8, 2014, while en route from Giurgiuleşti to Syria with 2,650 tonnes of salt.

The ship collided with the south pier and suffered extensive water ingress. The helicopter evacuation of the crew was hampered by a storm and strong waves, but eventually, the rescue team dispatched from Tuzla naval base managed to pluck the crew of nine Syrians, one Romanian, and two ship’s pilots from the sinking vessel.

The ship is very unfortune, as was engaged in several casualties during her life.
